International Peace Conference in Tangier

The 3rd International Peace Conference was held in Tanzania, Morocco from 2 to 4 May. The conference was co-hosted by the International Initiative for Peace  STOP WW3 and the Party of Progress and Socialism.

The first International Peace Conference was held in October 2023 in Rome. The delegation from People’s Demonracy Party (PDP, South Korea) has participated in the event.

The conference, which was attended by more 60 delegations from about 30 countries, held heated discussions on solidarity and struggle among the peoples of the world against the imperialist powers in Palestine, West Asia (Middle East), Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

On the first day, first session began with the opening ceremony. About 20 organizations presented and discussed the topics of the Gaza War, the Axis of Resistance, Palestine, and the Future of Resistance. “Free Free Palestine!” chants erupted from the audience during the speeches.

STOP WW3 said, “Despite the cruel genocide, Israel lost the Battle of Gaza. The victory achieved by the Palestinian Resistance will remain engraved in the history of humanity. However, the War will continue, as shown by the Zionist policy of colonization of the West Bank, and because of the Trump administration’s open support for Israel.”

On second day, speeches and discussions began under the topics: second session “Regional changes in the Middle East and the Role of External Powers”, third session “Russia: the war in Ukraine, prospects for Peace in the shadow of NATO threats”, fourth session “Latin America facing US treats”, fifth session “the arms race and the future of the European continent”.

STOP WW3 emphasized, “ the European Union is continuing their war drive against Russia. In a global context in which threats to humanity are destined to increase, it is an absolute priority for popular resistance, democratic and socialist forces to join forces to counter imperialism and build a great global movement for peace.”

Third day, sixth session “the struggle for peace and the fight against neocolonialism in Africa”, seventh session “Trumpism, tariffs, and the role of China and the BRICS countries” were began.

The deleagtion of PDP said “The most important point to understand thebackground of the Trump’s “tariff war” is the “Triffin’s Dilemma”. The dollar hegemony is on the agenda at the BRICSsummit in July. Without global hegemony, few economistsare optimistic that the US can manage its astronomical fiscal deficit and tradedeficit or prevent hyperinflation of the dollar.”

And he analysed, “The economic crisis, including the debt of Westernimperialism, including the US, has long crossed the line. Under the conditions that the G7 isfalling and the BRICS is rising, imperialism is making its last stand by usingNATO as a front before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization becomes stronger. In particular, “NATO’s pacificization”, which is the final version of “NATO’seastward policy”, has been actively pursued to cause the wars in East Asia andthe Western Pacific. The Trump administration’s “tariffwar” and non-interventionist policies have intensified internalcontradictions within the imperialist camp, further provoking the warmongeringforces of imperialism to instigate war provocations more frequently, moreaggressively, and more recklessly.”

Finally, he said, “The civil war and the war in the “ROK”provoked by imperialism and fascism will become a turning point for revolution, accelerating the arrival of a new world without imperialism and fascism—a newsociety centered on the people. A liberated “ROK,” advancing toward independentreunification together with the DPRK, will proudly stand at the forefront ofthe anti-imperialist camp, fulfilling the righteous tasks of the era withhonor. Under the banner of anti-imperialism andthe cause of justice, the united and unyielding struggle of the people of theworld will lead to certain final victory.”

The participants continued to discuss the changed world situation after Trump’s election.

The last session, the organizers read the conclusion of the conference and ended the International Peace Conference.
