US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Moscow on August 6, just two days before the August 8 deadline set by President Donald Trump for possible second-round sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine ceasefire.
According to Reuters, citing sources, Witkoff arrived in Moscow and was received by Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special envoy on international economic and investment cooperation.
The main point of interest during Witkoff’s visit is whether he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin has left the possibility open, and Witkoff has previously met with Putin four times during visits to Russia.
