The visit of US Senator Marco Rubio to Ecuador raises legitimate concerns about possible agreements that compromise our country’s independence and sovereignty.
Past experiences in Latin America, such as the Panama Canal Treaty or the continued presence of Guantanamo in Cuba, teach us that ceding territory under the pretext of military cooperation has long-term consequences.
Today, the possibility of establishing a foreign presence in the Galapagos Islands is being discussed, under security agreements promoted by the government of Daniel Noboa. This measure would jeopardize not only our territorial sovereignty, but also the environmental and strategic value of a heritage recognized throughout the world.
The Ecuadorian people have the right to decide on their territory and to defend its integrity against foreign interests. Therefore, we call on social organizations, collectives, and citizens in general to express their rejection of any attempt to turn the Galapagos into a foreign military base.
We invite you to join the organized protest:
• Statements before consulates and embassies.
• Announcements in the media, community radio stations, and social networks.
• Activities to raise awareness about the importance of the Galapagos as a symbol of sovereignty and national heritage.
Ecuador is not for sale! Sovereignty is not negotiable!

La visita del senador estadounidense Marco Rubio al Ecuador genera legítimas preocupaciones sobre posibles acuerdos que comprometen la independencia y soberanía de nuestro país.
Experiencias pasadas en América Latina, como el tratado sobre el Canal de Panamá o la permanencia de Guantánamo en Cuba, nos enseñan que la cesión de territorios bajo el pretexto de cooperación militar trae consecuencias de largo plazo.
Hoy se discute la posibilidad de establecer presencia extranjera en las Islas Galápagos, bajo acuerdos de seguridad impulsados por el gobierno de Daniel Noboa. Esta medida pondría en riesgo no solo nuestra soberanía territorial, sino también el valor ambiental y estratégico de un patrimonio reconocido en todo el mundo.
El pueblo ecuatoriano tiene derecho a decidir sobre su territorio y a defender su integridad frente a intereses extranjeros. Por ello, hacemos un llamado a las organizaciones sociales, colectivos y ciudadanía en general a expresar su rechazo a cualquier intento de convertir a las Galápagos en base militar extranjera.
