Upon the invitation of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Li Shangfu will pay an official visit to Russia from April 16 to 19, a Chinese defense spokesperson said on Friday.
During the visit, General Li will meet and hold talks with Russian military leaders, and visit military academies, Senior Colonel Tan Kefei, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, told a press briefing.
In recent years, the mil-to-mil relations between China and Russia have seen steady development on a high level under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state. New progress has been made in strategic communication, joint exercises and training, and pragmatic cooperation, etc. These have continuously enriched the strategic connotations of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, the spokesperson added.
