The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) and the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) joined a rally in solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as well as its president Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were kidnapped by the orders of the U.S. president Donald Trump. The rally was organized in front of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Belgrade.
In addition to the Ambassador of Venezuela, Jaidys Briceno, the event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Serbia, Comrade Pavel Orencio Diaz Hernandez, as well as the members of Movement of Socialists, Revolutionary People’s Party-Front, Network in Defense of Humanity and the Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association.
On behalf of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia, the rally was addressed by the General Secretary, Comrade Aleksandar Banjanac. In his speech, he emphasized that the actions of the United States represent an „open and shameless ac that can be described solely as terrorism“. According to his words, such an act goes far beyond discussions about violations of international law and represents its complete trampling.
Comrade Banjanac also emphasized that it is the obligation of the authorities of the Republic of Serbia to clearly and unequivocally condemn the terrorist actions of the USA and its president Donald Trump, as well as to publicly demand the immediate release of the president of a sovereign and independent state.
„That is the absolute minimum that Serbia must fulfill, both because of its own historical experience and conflict with NATO, above all with the USA, as well as because its own tradition of the struggle for freedom. Any scilence and bowing the head in the face of injustice would mean a renunciation of those values“, Comrade Banjanac stated.
Prior to the rally itself, participants visited the premises of the Venezuelan Embassy, where Ambassador Jaidys Briceno warmly welcomed them, expressing the words of gratitude, and inviting them to sign the book of condolences for the victims of U.S. aggression on Venezuela.
The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia emphasizes that it firmly opposes the introduction of the principles akin to those of Hitler and Mussolini into contemporary international relations, as promoted by the administration of Donald Trump.
During the rally, the following slogans were clearly voiced: “Hands off Venezuela!”, “Immediately release President Maduro and his wife!”, while the gathered crowd also chanted: “¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!” (The people united can never be defeated!), “¡No pasarán!”, “¡Maduro Presidente!”, “Long live socialism, down with American imperialism.”
