On January 16, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) held its 22nd party rally in front of the US Embassy in the ‘Republic of Korea (the ‘ROK’)’ under the slogans “Free Maduro! Overthrow Imperialism!”
Party members vigorously shouted slogans: “Free Maduro, the Anti-Imperialist Fighter and People’s Leader!”, “Let’s Overthrow US Imperialism, the Invader and Plunderer!”, “Let’s Crush the War Maneuvers with the Anti-Imperialist, Anti-US Struggle!”, “Withdraw the US Imperialist Forces, the Occupying and Invading Army!”, “FREE MADURO!”, “¡MADURO LIBRE!”, “¡No pasarán! (They shall not pass!)”, “¡Victoria Siempre (Until the day of victory, always)! ¡Venceremos! (we shall prevail!)”
The Chairperson of the Anti-US and Anti-War Special Committee of the People’s Democracy Party pointed out: “Nicolás Maduro is an anti-imperialist fighter. Although the US conspired to frame President Nicolás Maduro as a drug kingpin, they could not break the status of Maduro, who has struggled and devoted himself to defending the sovereignty and independence of Venezuela against imperialism. On the other hand, on the 15th (the US time), MarÃa Corina Machado, the head of the pro-US fascists, handed a Nobel Peace Prize medal to Donald Trump and babbled about ‘in recognition [of] his unique commitment [to] our freedom.’ As Machado, who is nothing more than an imperialist minion, dares to mention Venezuela and acts like a ghost, the Venezuelan people will pour even more strength into the struggle to return the anti-imperialist fighter Maduro to their embrace.”
The Chairperson continued: “Donald Trump, the warmonger, has become emboldened by the invasion of Venezuela and is threatening Cuba and Colombia; now he is even trying to devour all of Greenland. The struggle for hegemony over Greenland was started by the US, but it is a clear example of the internal division within the imperialist camp. The world no longer tolerates the US high-handedness and tyranny. It is only by taking Venezuela as immediate prey and declaring the revival of the ‘Monroe Doctrine’ that the US can maintain even the meager pride of an imperialist leader state. Just as the citizens of Greenland shout, ‘Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders,’ Venezuela belongs to the Venezuelan people. Neither Venezuela nor Latin America is the ‘backyard’ of the US.”
She then emphasized: “The ‘Republic of Korea’ can never be free from the US imperialist system of domination. While the President of Cuba said, ‘Cuba has been under attack by the US for 66 years,’ US troops have been stationed in the ‘Republic of Korea’ for over 80 years, holding even military sovereignty in the palm of their hands. The ‘Republic of Korea’ is Venezuela, and Venezuela is the ‘Republic of Korea.’ At this historical time when the era of imperialism is fading and the era of ‘Overthrowing Imperialism’ is arriving, we will strengthen our solidarity with the anti-imperialist people of the world through a joint anti-imperialist and anti-US struggle. In the 20th-century Spanish Civil War, anti-fascist forces united under the slogan ‘¡No pasarán!’ and defended the capital, Madrid. In the 21st century, anti-imperialist forces will hold the slogan ‘¡No pasarán!’, supporting and protecting Venezuela and Latin America, and defending the dignity and peace of the people of each nation.”
Finally, the party members sang the “Song of Comrades,” calling for the release of their international comrade, Nicolás Maduro.
