On January 16, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) held its 23rd party rally in front of the US Embassy under the slogans “Free Maduro! Overthrow Imperialism!”
Party members vigorously shouted slogans: “Free Maduro, the Anti-Imperialist Fighter and People’s Leader!”, “Let’s Overthrow US Imperialism, the Invader and Plunderer!”, “Let’s Crush the War Maneuvers with the Anti-Imperialist, Anti-US Struggle!”, “Withdraw the US Imperialist Forces, the Occupying and Invading Army!”, “FREE MADURO!”, “¡MADURO LIBRE!”, “¡No pasarán! (They shall not pass!)”, “¡Victoria Siempre (Until the day of victory, always)! ¡Venceremos! (we shall prevail!)”
The Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Party of the People’s Democracy Party spoke with emphasis: “We urge the release of Nicolás Maduro, the anti-imperialist fighter and people’s leader. By removing the ‘Cartel of the Sun’ from the indictment against President Nicolás Maduro, the US has lost even its pretext for his abduction and arrest. Donald Trump shouted that this was ‘law enforcement’ rather than war, but they have effectively admitted that the ‘drug kingpin’ charge, which they presented as a primary allegation, is non-existent. We must hasten the release of President Maduro through the anti-imperialist and anti-US struggle of the people of the ‘Republic of Korea,’ the people of Venezuela, and the progressive people of the world who long for peace. To tolerate the US imperialism’s invasion of Venezuelan territory, the abduction of the Venezuelan president, and the plunder of Venezuelan oil is tantamount to volunteering as an accomplice in a war of aggression.”
The Chairperson continued: “Even within the US, there is a backlash against this invasion. The US Senate, which holds the power to declare war, passed a resolution telling Donald Trump that he ‘must not invade Venezuela’ and that ‘congressional approval is required.’ Alongside this, the demand for the release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is spreading like wildfire. It is not only in Venezuela that the US imperialism is plotting a war of aggression. Earlier this month, the ‘Republic of Korea’ Army and the USFK announced plans for a ‘The ground component command of the ‘ROK’-US Combined Forces Command.’ It has been revealed that the ‘ROK’ military is becoming more subordinated within the integrated system of the US military across all sectors, and the possibility of involvement of the ‘ROK’ in Taiwan is becoming a reality.”
The Chairperson also declared: “Meanwhile, although the Bank of Korea is intervening in the foreign exchange market, the exchange rate is rising to 1,470 and 1,480 KRW per dollar. Despite this, the ‘ROK’ government is acting recklessly, saying it will give 20 billion dollars to the US next year. The 350-billion-dollar investment in the US is not an investment but a shortcut to national ruin. The reckless atrocities of imperialist US are spreading the awareness that imperialism must be overthrown as soon as possible. Let us fight even more united under the banner of anti-imperialism against the imperialist Donald Trump forces. Our people will stand in firm solidarity with the Venezuelan people until President Maduro, the leader of Venezuela, is released, and we will fight vigorously alongside the people of the world who desire peace.”
