[Spokesperson’s Report No. 670]
The People’s Democracy Party Will Stand at the Forefront of the All-People’s Resistance to Defeat Imperialism and Fascism
At around 8 a.m. on May 15 in Nairobi, all members of the international delegation of the World Anti-imperialist Platform, including former president of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) and director of 21st Century Che Guevara. Lee Sanghun, and deputy director of the international department of the PDP. Song Danbee, were released. At around noon on May 12, Kenyan fascist authorities fired tear gas at a lawful and peaceful march opposing the “Africa-France Summit,” forcibly dispersed the demonstration with military mobilization, and detained the international delegation without warrants, without notification of charges, and without trial, only releasing them after as many as 69 hours. During those 69 hours, the delegation faced severe restrictions on basic necessities and meals, while their rights to legal assistance, hospital treatment, and visitation were obstructed. On May 13, Kenyan police committed an outrageous atrocity by firing live ammunition toward a protest visit demanding the delegation’s release, led by Booker Omole, general secretary of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya, along with Kenyan activists. Despite the worst human rights abuses and fascistic repression, Comrade Lee Sang-hun and Song Danbee carried out a complete silence-and-hunger-strike struggle throughout the entire detention period.
It has once again been confirmed that the Ruto regime is an infamous fascist and murderous regime. The shocking shooting incident on May 13 is something that occurs routinely in Kenya. Since taking power, Ruto—a former member of the far-right fascist youth organization “YK ’92”—has massacred approximately 130 people during crackdowns on large-scale anti-IMF and anti-neoliberal protests in 2024 and 2025 through the use of live ammunition, direct tear-gas projectile fire, and water cannons mixed with deadly chemical agents. Hundreds more were injured or disappeared in the process. In particular, kidnappings, terror attacks, torture, and assassinations targeting key members of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya have become countless in number. What does it signify that on May 12, in response to the “Africa-France Summit,” tear gas was spread throughout downtown Nairobi? The Kenyan people are currently living under the worst fascist murderous regime, with even their most basic human rights brutally trampled as they endure lives of slavery.
The Lee Jae-myung regime is legitimizing fascist atrocities through its collusion with the fascist Ruto regime. On May 13, National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik visited Kenya, held a summit-level meeting with Ruto, and reached agreements on supporting infrastructure contracts, shortening visa processing times, and opening the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Simultaneously, they pushed for the signing of an ACSA (Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement) between the ‘Republic of Korea’ (the ‘ROK’, South Korea) and Kenya. The Nairobi Intelligent Transport System, led by the ‘ROK’ comprador capital, combines CCTV with AI-based data collection and control technology, which will be repurposed as a technical weapon for the surveillance, tracking, and repression of progressive Kenyan activists. In short, this is military and political collusion wearing the mask of economic and cultural cooperation. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs succumbed to the Embassy of Kenya’s preposterous “protest” antics, Woo Won-shik completely ignored the human rights of his own citizens illegally detained by a fascist murderous regime, and the Yongsan Police Station repressed the legal political activities of the People’s Democracy Party as if under fascist rule. Through this process, we have clearly confirmed the ugly, pro-imperialist, and pro-fascist essence of the Lee Jae-myung regime.
US imperialism has designated Kenya as a Major Non-NATO Ally, British imperialism has stationed combat troops within Kenya, and French imperialism has intensified its economic and cultural infiltration through this recent summit. It is by no means a coincidence that French President Emmanuel Macron visited Kenya in May following his visit to the ‘ROK’ in April, and that Woo Won-shik traveled to Kenya immediately after him. It has been clearly revealed that the imperialist forces are using the ‘ROK’ and Kenya as strategic bridgeheads and outposts for wars of aggression in East Asia and East Africa, respectively. Under the grave situation of World War 3, the fates of the African and ‘ROK’ peoples are not two, but one. The banners of revolutionary Pan-Africanism, anti-imperialism, and internationalism are also essentially one. We will take the lead in strengthening the world anti-imperialist front to overthrow imperialism and fascism. Through the unity and resistance of all people, we will overthrow imperialism and fascism and hasten a new world of independence, democracy, and peace.
