[Madrid Colloquium] Session 2 : Political Situation of World War 3 and the role of the Platform

On June 8, Madrid, Spain, hosted the first day of a colloquium on “The situation of World War 3 and the anti-imperialist and antifascist struggle”.

Session 2 took place from 12:15 pm to 2:00 pm. Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and Stephen Cho, organizer of the World Anti-imperialist Platform, gave a speech.

The speaker from the PFLP said, “What has been happening in Gaza since last October 7?” and “I think it has reversed all previous political situations. Zionists thought they could nibble away at Palestine for the past 30 years, but it has intensified its war against Hezbollah and others.”

“Israel thought the Middle East was weak and controllable, but the result was Palestine on October 7,” he continued, adding, “Palestine struck a blow to the United States and Israel, which are said to be the world’s strongest countries. Not only Hamas is resisting, but the whole people are struggling,” he emphasized.

A presentation was made on the Platform delegation’s visit to Donbass.

The speaker said, “Our delegation received a grand welcome in the country. We were treated like almost state guests and had many important and unforgettable visits, meetings, and discussions,” she said, describing the sites visited, including the Lugansk Regional Museum, the memorial complex of the village of Bydnoslave, places damaged by the Ukrainian army, and Krasnodon.

“As the statue at the Ostryamogila memorial says, ‘The flag will not die,’ the brutal destruction and massacres of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi army will never dampen the will of the Donbass people to liberate and free themselves. The revolutionary forces of the world must unite firmly under the banner of anti-imperialism and move forward to the final victory”, she concluded.

Next, Stephen Cho, the organizer of the World Anti-imperialist Platform, spoke.

He said, “World War 1 was fought between the Allies and the Central Powers as an inter-imperialist war, and World War 2 was fought between the antifascist and fascist camps as an antifascist war. World War 3 is an anti-imperialist war fought between the anti-imperialist and imperialist camps.”

“We agree with the view that the war in East Asia has already begun if we do not limit the concept of war to “high-intensity” warfare but include “low-intensity” conflict,” he said, noting that “US imperialism has been annually accelerating the continuous joint military exercises of the US, the “ROK” military, and the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, especially in and around the Korean Peninsula, aimed at the DPRK and China, as nuclear war exercises.

“At the root of the political crisis in Ukraine and Israel, which are already at war, and in the “ROK” and Taiwan, where war is imminent, is the economic crisis and the collapse of people’s livelihoods, which also stem from the global economic crisis caused by the imperialist forces,” he continued, analyzing that “This is why they are using the deception of “de-risking” by launching the “New Cold War” strategy with World War 3.

He added, “Since 2014, the people of the Donbas region in Eastern Europe have been resisting the Ukrainian fascist forces in armed struggle; the people of the “axis of resistance” including the Palestinian people in West Asia have been staging armed struggles against the Israeli zionist forces; the people of the “ROK” in East Asia have been uprising against the pro-US fascist warmongers, and the people of Taiwan have been fighting against the pro-US separatist forces, “asserting that “The victory of the anti-imperialist countries in the war in East Asia will be a decisive step for the victory of the world’s anti-imperialist camp in World War 3, just like the Battle of Stalingrad was in World War 2.”
