Urges Australia to withdraw from the nuclear submarine agreement of AUKUS

Australia’s political circles have recently condemned the nuclear submarine agreement of the AUKUS (Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom trilateral defence partnership) and called for Australia to withdraw from the agreement.

Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull also denounced it as a disadvantageous agreement, saying that Australia will have lost both sovereignty and security, and a lot of money as well.

An Australian political commentator analysed that the formation of the AUKUS has little to do with Australia’s defence.

The agreement was signed by former Prime Minister Scott Morrison and taken over by the current Anthony government, and Australia plans to purchase three to five Virginia-class nuclear submarines from the US.
