The Paris International Colloquium marking on the 80th Anniversary of the victory of World War II, co-organized by the World Anti-imperialist Platform and the Pan-African Unitary Dynamics (DUP), was held “World War and Anti-Imperialist and Anti-Fascist struggle” in Paris, France on May 10.
The first session of the colloquium under the theme of “World War II and the Victory of the World Anti-Fascist Struggle” took place, followed by a presentation, discussion, and Q&A.
Session 1 was moderated by Eleonore Koffi, member of CPGB-ML.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Dmitry Novikov participated by video message and the Union of Communists of Ukraine, Antifascist Former Resistance Fighters Netherlands, and Aleksandar Đenić, New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ), and Vincent Mathieu, Communist Party of Belgium, participated in the Session 1.
In the video, Dmitry Novikov said, “Attempts are being made to distort, distort and rewrite the history of the Second World War.” “Imperialism, the father of fascism, remains the main threat to humanity. Capitalism is stubbornly dragging the planet into the hell of nuclear war. In the 21st century, humanity once again faces a fateful choice: socialism or barbarism.”
And he highlighted, “Today, millions of people around the world are participating in the struggle against imperialism and neo-fascism. But the scale of this struggle is still insufficient. It is extremely important to strengthen our solidarity and unity of action against new bloody wars, for a happy future for humanity.”
Union of Communists of Ukraine said, “A fascist regime was imposed on Ukraine; there is no doubt about this. But this fascism is Ukrainian only in its place of manifestation, in its language, and in its personnel; in its origins and funding, it is Western – American and European. It was Western capital that nurtured and incited the Kyiv Nazis.” “For us, who remain in Ukraine, the theme of the struggle against imperialism is particularly relevant: we are witnessing with our own eyes all the horrors of the most terrible offspring of imperialism – fascism, and in its most repulsive form of hypertrophied nationalism – Nazism.”
And, “To stop fascism, anti-imperialist forces must consolidate as much as possible around the struggle for socialism, and communists must form the backbone of the anti-imperialist movement.” “We consider it the task of all decent people to fight living fascism without any delay or truce, here and now, by all possible means, involving all possible allies.”
Antifascist Former Resistance Fighters Netherlands analyzed, “The main instruments of imperialism are NATO and its proxies, so to fight against fascism, it is imperative to fight for the dismantling of NATO and for its defeat in its imperialist wars.” “Wherever US influence is strong but threatened, the fascist threat looms strong; without the power of the US, neither the fascist militias in Ukraine such as Azov, Aidar, C14, Pravy Sektor and the like, nor the modern-day Einsatzgruppen committing genocide in Gaza would be able to operate in any meaningful capacity.”
Aleksandar Đenić said, “In this year, as we commemorate 80 years since the victory over fascism, we are simultaneously confronted with the consequences of counterrevolutionary processes in Eastern Europe, as well as the aggressive policies of Western imperialism against all progressive, sovereign, and socialist countries around the world.” “The decommunization process in Eastern Europe has led to the disintegration of socialist states and the loss of their sovereignty. This policy has spawned invented traditions and a rewriting of history—a widespread inversion in which victims are turned into oppressors, freedom fighters into criminals, and criminals into heroes.”
And, “Yet, the task before all progressive forces in our country is to conduct a principled and determined anti-imperialist struggle. We must campaign relentlessly against NATO and the European Union.” “A NATO-free Balkans would give our peoples the chance to voluntarily unite, to develop together—because only through alliances can small nations, divided and pitted against each other by NATO, protect themselves.”
Vincent Mathieu said “At this moment, on the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, we must reaffirm that Russia does not want war, does not want to invade Europe.” “Some on the left are content to proclaim that “imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism!” This leads them to denounce the three imperialisms that are supposedly “the global West,” Russia, and China. They forget that when capitalism is in deep crisis—which is currently the case—it enters its final phase.”
This was followed by discussions session from Revolutionary Unification in Greece, Unión Proletaria in Spain, Struggle Unity in Turkey, and DUP.
Augusta Efaña said, “At the very time that the victory of 1945 was being celebrated here in France, a genocide was taking place in Algeria. There were thousands, hundreds of thousands of victims. The date was exactly the same. Thousands of our Algerian brothers were slaughtered for simply fighting to defend their rights,” ”So what we have to make clear today is that the fight against imperialism is a communal fight, a collective fight.”
And, “We must learn from the past. We need to reflect on what we did not do well as communists, socialists, and anti-imperialist fighters.” ”we need to build a strategy and struggle plan that truly takes into account the forgotten peoples of Africa and the colonized peoples of the world.”
Miguel Ángel said, “The proletariat of each country must fulfill its revolutionary and internationalist duties.”.
In the Q&A, the role of Russia and China in the anti-imperialist camp, and the unity and cooperation of anti-imperialist countries were discussed.
