Israel opens fire on crowd at Gaza aid distribution site

At least 30 people have been killed and more than 100 injured after Israeli forces opened fire on an aid distribution site run by the Israeli-U.S.-led Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

The Palestinian WAFA news agency reported that at least 30 people were killed and 115 wounded when Israeli forces opened fire near a Gaza distribution site operated by the GHF in the early hours of June 1 (local time).

AFP also quoted Gaza aid workers as saying at least 10 people were killed and more than 100 wounded.

A local journalist told the BBC that Israeli tanks appeared and opened fire as thousands of residents gathered near the distribution site to receive relief supplies. And he denounced “We tried to transport the wounded, but aid workers were not allowed into the Israeli-controlled areas, so residents had to carry them in carts.”

Israel has not commented on the incident.
