Platform launched a struggle against NATO in the Hague

“Disband NATO—the Imperialist War Headquarters!” The Platform launched a struggle against NATO in The Hague!

On June 21, a powerful international anti-imperialist struggle was launched in the Hague, Netherlands, organized by the World Anti-Imperialist Platform.

The protest focused on opposing to the upcoming NATO Summit scheduled for June 24 in The Hague, with around 70 participants from revolutionary organizations around the world gathering in solidarity.

Banners with slogans such as “Disband NATO!”, “Defeat the NATO-led imperialist alliance!”, “Stop Israel’s attack on Iran!”, “No NATO in the Pacific!”, “Stop the US imperialist war drive!”, “Down with imperialism! Down with NATO!”, and “Free Palestine!” were unfurled in order.

Following the lead of the chant leaders, the participants marched to the front of the Stadhoudersplantsoen, powerfully shouting slogans such as “Disband NATO!”, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!”, “Down with NATO!”, “Stop bombing Iran!”, “Israel is a fascist state!”, and “Stop the attack on Iran!”

Imani Na Umoja, a member of the Political Bureau of PAIGC (Guinea-Bissau), took the microphone and declared with conviction: “Let us unite in the struggle for humanity! Let us come together and fight for peace! Let us eliminate fear! We are not afraid! For revolution! Disband NATO!”

After the march, a rally was held in front of the Stadhoudersplantsoen. Participants raised banners reading “DISBAND NATO!” and “STOP ISRAEL’S ATTACK ON IRAN!” and continued delivering speeches denouncing imperialist NATO.

Joerd de Groot of Antifascist Former Resistance Fighters Netherlands (AFVN) stirred up the rally with powerful chants of “Down with US imperialism! Down with NATO!”

He emphasized, “We are not here because we hate our country, but because we love it. We are not here because we hate Europe or love Russia. For our country, the Netherlands, fighting Russia—another nation on the same continent—is not in our interest. If Europe goes to war with Russia, it will be for Ukraine alone, not for the people of Europe.” He added, “Fighting against imperialism is not a betrayal of our country, but a struggle to save it.”

Vukašin Žunić, a member of the Central Committee of the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ, Serbia), stated, “The violent breakup of Yugoslavia and NATO’s criminal invasion were direct results of Western imperialisThe violent dismantling of Yugoslavia and NATO’s criminal aggression were the direct result of Western imperialism. We became victims, with countless Serbs displaced.” The Balkans, strategically important, attracts imperialist powers, serving as an arena for NATO’s goals. NATO occupied our peninsula, proving itself the greatest security risk globally. Imperialist plans threaten new bloodshed, aiming to intensify interventions and establish puppet governments, deepening capitalist exploitation and binding countries to NATO and the EU.”

He continued, “The UN vote on Srebrenica, where more countries opposed or abstained than supported the resolution, clearly shows that many nations reject Western hypocrisy.Western imperialists are clearly not our friends.” He concluded, “We protest this summit of mass murderers in The Hague. We must rise up against those who profit from war, those who divide us and push us into war against our neighbors.”

Spiros Patelis of the Revolutionary Unification (Greece) declared, “Today, as we gather here, the World War 3 is underway, with the Zionist forces in West Asia launching a vile assault against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and immediate retaliation now unfolding.” He continued, “The upcoming summit serves as a planning ground for the imperialists — before they launch yet another cowardly attack, before another nation is thrown into suffering and forced into a struggle for survival, before humanity takes another step toward complete nuclear annihilation.”

He further emphasized, “Under the banner of anti-imperialism, the most crucial task for youth and world anti-imperialist forces is to dismantle the parasitic machine of imperialism led by the United States.” He stressed, “It is our duty to advance toward the goal of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform: to unify anti-imperialist forces into a militant front, seize strategic initiative, and eradicate the imperialist system from the planet, thereby paving an unimpeded path for the people toward socialism and communism.”

The Struggle Unity declared, “Calling for the end of NATO is not simply about ending an organization that has lost its purpose. It is about ending a force that has brought war, destruction, and death to every corner of the world—from East Asia to Latin America, from the North Sea to South Africa.” They condemned, “Today, behind the genocide and war crimes committed by Zionist Israel against the people of Palestine, we find NATO and its masters: the imperialist powers of the USA, UK, France, and Germany.”

They also stated, “Nato is managing the war itself. NATO is not only destroying lives through wars—it is also dragging us, the workers and the poor, into deeper poverty and hunger. NATO demands that member states spend 5% of their budgets on weapons, transferring hundreds of billions of euros to arms companies.” They concluded by shouting, “Another world is possible, and we can realize it real through our struggle. Once again, we say: Disband NATO!”

In a written speech, the Communist Party of Kenya–Marxist emphasized, “Let no one be confused: NATO is not a defensive pact. NATO is a war cartel. It exists not to protect the people, but to crush them.” They stressed, “It was NATO that destroyed Libya, turning the most developed country on the continent into a battlefield, a smuggler’s corridor, a graveyard of migrants. It was NATO that bombed Gaddafi’s convoy, assassinated a sovereign head of state, and paved the way for open-air slave markets. And it was AFRICOM, NATO’s twin in Africa, that entrenched military bases, drone operations, and special forces across the Sahel.”

They added, “To the workers of Europe, we say: your enemy is not in Africa, Asia, or Latin America. Your enemy is the bourgeoisie in Brussels, in London, in Washington. To the peoples of the South, we say: your liberation will not come from NATO states, but from united struggle. To the youth, we say: build the future not with hashtags, but with revolution. And to the imperialists, we say: your time is up.”

Next, a special statement condemning Israel’s aggression against Iran and a statement of world anti-imperialist joint struggle in The Hague titled “We will stand at the forefront of the struggle until NATO is dismantled” were released.

All participants concluded the struggle by powerfully singing The Internationale in their respective languages.

Below is the full text of the statements.

Platform Statement in the Hague-Amsterdam: We will stand at the forefront of the struggle until NATO is dismantled

The dismantling of NATO, the imperialist war headquarters, is the most urgent and critical task facing all of humanity today. After World War 2, as the imperialist forces were driven into systemic crisis, they formed NATO under US leadership. Through wars of aggression against newly independent nations, the US and NATO committed ruthless acts of exploitation, plunder, and mass killing. From the very beginning, NATO championed anti-USSR and anti-socialist agendas, accelerating its expansionist policy, particularly in 1955, by pushing into West Germany and formulating nuclear strike plans against the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, thereby escalating the threat of war.

NATO’s barbarism became even more apparent after the counterrevolution in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Faced with what should have been its own dissolution, NATO instead charged ahead, citing “ethnic conflicts” and “territorial disputes” in Central and Eastern Europe to justify its eastward expansion right up to Russia’s borders. NATO’s expansion to the east, breaking its own 1990 promise of “no NATO expansion eastward,” was one of the key provocations leading to the outbreak of the Ukraine War in 2022.

Since the end of World War 2, there has been no war without the involvement or instigation of the US and NATO. The sheer brutality of NATO was laid bare in its 1999 bombing of Kosovo. Beginning on March 24, 1999, airstrikes killed 500 civilians and injured 4,500 within just two months. NATO dropped over 10,000 bombs on Yugoslavia, some with destructive power exceeding that of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Reports published in August 1999 revealed that approximately 4,000 people in Kosovo and 2,000 in Serbia were massacred in the attacks.

Under the US doctrine of the “war on terror,” NATO’s killing machine continued its rampage. NATO was deployed following the US. invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001. Over the next 20 years, the region was engulfed in unending conflict and mass killings, resulting in at least 170,000 deaths and over 5 million people displaced.

When war broke out in Libya in February 2011, NATO launched around 7,500 airstrikes over five months, with a total of 20,000 sorties. Within just two months of these attacks, over 4,700 civilians were killed or wounded. Even after the fall of the Gaddafi government, NATO continued to extend its military presence and indiscriminate bombings.

Now, under the conditions of an impending World War 3, NATO, the war machine and instrument of massacre, is completing its “Pacificization” and expanding the theater of war across the region.

Since the Ukraine War began in 2022, NATO member states have begun overt military incursions into the Pacific, conducting aggressive exercises that threaten China, the DPRK, and Russia. In the summer of 2024, NATO-led multilateral drills such as “RIMPAC,” “Pitch Black,” “Pacific Skies”, and “Pacific Dragon” were staged in the Pacific, pushing regional tensions to the brink. At the NATO Summit held in Washington during the same period, the “Pacificization of NATO” was politically formalized. The US and NATO have designated East Asia and the Western Pacific as their next battlefield—following Eastern Europe and West Asia.

The NATO Summit in The Hague reflects the US and NATO’s ultimate convulsions of desperation. The continuation of the war in Ukraine demonstrates the nature of NATO, which cannot live without war. Another principal item on the agenda concerns the proposed increase in NATO contributions. European NATO member countries are seeking to raise the NATO defense spending standard significantly, setting it at 5% of GDP. The European people are already suffering the worst disaster for the economy and people’s livelihoods in the aftermath of the war in Ukraine. The European imperialists’ heinous plan is to plunder even more of the people’s hard-earned money and funnel it into war.

With hundreds of NATO military bases, Europe is the center and launch base of NATO’s aggression. As World War 3 escalates, these regional NATO bases, where NATO has laid its roots and established its headquarters, will increasingly function as active bases of war. NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command, headquartered in Brunssum, Netherlands is spearheading the anti-Russian operation “Baltic Sentry,” placing the local population at even greater risk.

The US imperialism and NATO, which have already deployed tactical nuclear weapons in Italy, Germany and other places in Europe, are now openly threatening the survival of both the European and global peoples by declaring their readiness to wage nuclear war against Russia. Dismantling NATO is a vital necessity for people around the world including in Europe, to defend their right to live in peace and dignity. The European people’s anti-NATO struggle is united with the anti-imperialist and anti-fascist struggles of all oppressed nations and peoples, including the Palestinian liberation struggle, as part of a single anti-imperialist front.

“Proletarians of The World, Unite!” and “The People United Will Never Be Defeated” are the winning strategy strategies of the progressive people of the world. Only through the unity and determined struggle of the anti-imperialist peoples of the world can NATO, the command center of World War 3, be dismantled; can imperialism, its principal instigator, be overthrown; and can the peace, independence, liberation, and revolution of the peoples of the world be achieved.

We, the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, solemnly pledge to remain at the forefront of this historic struggle without concession and without retreat until the day NATO is dismantled and imperialism is finally defeated.

Disband NATO, the Imperialist War Command!

Defeat the Imperialist Aggressors!

Victory to the Anti-Imperialist Liberation Struggle!

[Special Statement on Iran]

Let Us Crush the War Schemes of Imperialists and Zionists

The Zionists have crossed the red line. On June 13, Israeli Zionists targeted Iran’s nuclear facility in Natanz as their primary strike objective. They assassinated numerous military leaders and key nuclear scientists and massacred civilians, including children. The following day, they bombed the South Pars gas field—the largest in the world—targeting Iran’s vital energy sector. The Israeli operation, codename “Rising Lion”, appears to signal plans for further acts of aggression. Under the orchestration and support of imperialist powers, the war hysteria of the Israeli Zionists has reached its peak.

As of June 11, 2025, Zionist war criminals have massacred approximately 55,100 Palestinians since the onset of the Palestine war in October 2023. In September 2024, they focused their attacks on Hezbollah, and in December, they overthrew the anti-American regime in Syria. Israel has also continued to provoke tensions with Iran, which including a major terrorist attack during the January 2024 memorial rally for Soleimani, the commander of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria in April, and the assassination of Hamas Political Chief Ismail Haniyeh in July. There are no questions who are trying to initiate and expand the war in West Asia (the Middle East).

Iran has made it unequivocally clear that it will refrain from retaliation if Israel halts its attacks. This strategic restraint is a calculated effort to avoid entanglement in Israel’s war provocations while simultaneously keeping diplomatic negotiations alive. In West Asia, as Israel intensifies its war drive, Iran remains committed to preventing conflict. Only the media controlled by imperialist forces, which are behind the Zionists, distort the truth by reversing black and white.

The Israeli Zionists are not only the perpetrators of the Palestinian issue but also the main culprits behind the war in Western Asia. As long as Zionism in Israel is not dismantled, the liberation of Palestine and peace in Western Asia will remain impossible.

The storm of World War 3, unleashed by imperialism, is now blowing from Eastern Europe, through West Asia (the Middle East), toward East Asia. NATO’s eastward expansion policy has reached beyond the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf, and the Indian Ocean to the Pacific. The “Pacificization of NATO” was completed through its political preparations at the NATO summit in Washington in July 2024, and its military preparations were finalized through joint military exercises, such as RIMPAC, from June to August. Following this, imperialism escalated the provocation of localized conflicts on a global scale, such as the invasion of Kursk in Russia, concentrated attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon, and drone attacks on the DPRK. It is no coincidence that the lifting of long-range missile restrictions against Russia, the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria, and the attempted military coup in the “ROK (Republic of Korea)” occurred one after another.

We demand the immediate cessation of all US imperialist and Zionist war maneuvers. The Israeli Zionists must stop the bombings and killings in Gaza and Lebanon and leave the region immediately. Imperialism, particularly that of the US, is using Israeli Zionists as a war machine to expand the war in West Asia and is attempting to provoke a war in East Asia, which could escalate into World War 3. This campaign must be halted immediately.

The united and awakened people around the world will defeat the war machine of imperialism and Zionism, and usher in a new world of peace, sovereignty, and people’s democracy.

Smash the imperialist war drive!

Down with imperialism!

Liberate Palestine!

Victory for the anti-imperialist struggle!
