The People’s Democracy Party (PDP) announced that it will suspend its 24-hour demonstration in front of the US Embassy as of today, in order to fully confront the fascist, unconstitutional, and unlawful public-security repression being waged against it.

Abolish the Infamous Fascist Law, the National Security Law!
Today, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) decisively suspends its peace demonstration in front of the US Embassy, which it had carried out without interruption every single day. The PDP has staged 3,286 days of peace protests with the slogans “Punish the insurrectionist provoking Civil War! Kick out USFK provoking war!”; 2,853 days of overnight demonstration with the slogans “Arrest, punish the insurrectionists! Kick out USFK! Abolish the National Security Law!” and “Free Kim Byung-dong! Punish the insurrectionists!”; and 2,329 days of party speeches under the slogan “Stop Imperialist Aggression and War Schemes!” At every juncture, we raised scientific and revolutionary slogans of struggle, and with our steadfast peace protests in front of the US Embassy—a site sanctified by pro-US forces—we carried out militant activities that struck a blow at the fortress of US imperialism.
Today, we declare an all-out struggle against the fascist repression of the National Police Agency and the Security Investigation Division. The so-called “PDP Case” fabricated by the fascist Yoon Suk Yeol regime continues even into this year. On August 30, 2024, Yoon’s public-security authorities labeled the PDP an “enemy-benefiting organization” under the National Security Law and conducted raids on the former representative and party members. These raids were the prelude to a fascist gale and the signal flare for “wartime martial law.” Now, even as Yoon—the ringleader of insurrection and martial law—sits in prison after the failure of his pro-US coup on December 3, the PDP’s former representative and members, as leading anti-coup forces, are being repeatedly summoned and, on July 17th, subjected once again to a shocking raid. Like a blade sharpened ever more fiercely with every strike, we warn that we will respond with resolute, militant struggle against the fascist outrages directed at us.
The repression of the PDP—a constitutional, patriotic, and progressive party—is a trampling of the Constitution and one of the worst fascist outrages. Under the anti-coup government of Lee Jae Myung, which came to power pledging to end the coup, the ongoing fascist suppression of an anti-coup party is nothing less than betrayal and treason. History reminds us: Hitler’s Nazis, after dissolving the most progressive Communist Party, ruthlessly suppressed reformists and even religious figures, fascistizing Germany and unleashing World War 2. Today, as the imperialist warmongers escalate World War 3, the fascist repression being concentrated on the PDP by coup collaborators reveals the deepening fascistization of our society and the grave danger of war. The pro-US fascist clique, posing as shock troops for a war in the ‘ROK,’ makes the situation even more perilous. If the Lee Jae Myung government does not wish to follow in the footsteps of past fascist regimes, it must immediately cease the public-security repression of a constitutional party and thoroughly punish the unconstitutional forces and coup-collaborating police.
Nothing short of abolishing the National Security Law will suffice. The Law, which criminalizes the slogan “withdrawal of US Troops” and brands forces for national independence as “enemy-benefiting,” is an infamous fascist law and a law of national betrayal that must be abolished without delay. From its predecessor’s inaugural press conference on July 18, 2016, to this day, for nine long years the PDP has waged a patriotic and progressive struggle against all forms of repression, standing for national independence and people’s democracy. National self-determination and people’s democracy are justice and science. The PDP will fight unyieldingly and consistently until the day of final victory, when the historic tasks of independence and democracy in our society are fulfilled.
