President of Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Henry Parra said: continuing the legacy of its independence heroes by resisting US imperialism and economic blockade. Venezuela is fighting for a “second independence,” defending its sovereignty and refusing to become a colony again.
Full text: We are with the first program, 5 minutes with El Gallo. We have decided to make this first program about the heroes of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Here are the heroines and heroes of the first independence fought for by our homeland, by our heroes against the Spanish Empire. They are examples of sacrifice. Six republics were under the responsibility of this group of men. Why six? Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Upper Peru, Lower Peru. Upper Peru became Bolivia and Panama, because Panama was part of Colombia. We have to consider it as a country also liberated by these heroes. Some from Venezuela, others from different parts of the world. These men traveled the Andes on horseback and on foot to give freedom to what I call six countries. Well, they gave us the best example of sacrifice, dedication, and courage. That blood is inherited by the Venezuelan people. That blood is also inherited by the people of Colombia and the peoples who were liberated by our liberator Simón Bolívar. Here we have Paes, Sucre, Bolívar, Rurdaneta, Nariño, Permúdez, Villar, Arizméndez, Brion, Rivas. And there we have the heroines. Each and every one of the women who also gave their lives for the freedom of our homeland. That is our first independence. Today we are waging a new struggle for the independence of our country against the greatest empire that humanity has ever known, as was the Spanish Empire in its time. Today, our people, led by Comrade Nicolás Mauro Moros, are fighting a battle against this empire that seeks to turn us into a colony. Certainly, Paes and Santander divided Gran Colombia. They betrayed Simón Bolívar’s spirit of unity, but we continue with that spirit of freedom and unity of the peoples of Latin America, especially the peoples who were called Gran Colombia. At this moment, our country has frigates off our coast in the Caribbean Sea, American frigates, which seek to invade our territory with the sole aim of seizing all the wealth of our people, because this wealth belongs to our people. This wealth does not belong to any government. They have justified this by telling us that we are a country that supports Hezbollah terrorists, that we are a country of the Cartel of the Suns, that we are a country that exports armed gangs. What have they told us? But the truth has come to light. No longer the Cartel of the Suns, no longer Crenaragua. It is no longer that we are supporting Hezbollah, nothing like that. Now they are coming for what they have always really wanted, the riches of our homeland. Especially the wealth that lies beneath our soil, oil. Why? Because the United States, North America, is running out of oil reserves and Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world. You who are listening to me, comrades and friends, you who are watching me, know that this is a country of honest people, of hard-working people, of cheerful people, yes, fundamentally cheerful and happy. That we have resisted a blockade of 1,003 sanctions, a criminal blockade, that the day this republic declared itself revolutionary, Bolivarian, anti-imperialist, they immediately began to besiege it. And Trump said so in his last administration. I came close to taking over Venezuela’s oil reserves. Those who did not take that opportunity now intend to do so. It is not by getting rid of Maduro that the revolution will end. It is not by getting rid of any of those who lead the revolution. It is not by getting rid of them. Here, you will have to get rid of a people who have sacrificed themselves to this day to achieve what we have achieved so far. Little by little, we have achieved food independence. Ninety-six percent of the food we consume is produced there. That was not the case when there were strikes. We were totally dependent on the United States. Not today. That is why I call on you, comrades, not to fall into war. When imperialism sends its ships there, the largest aircraft carrier the United States has, it is to terrorize us. They will not terrorize us. It is to instill fear in us. They will not instill fear in us. It is to create uncertainty. They will not succeed. Our people will continue to work. And when it is necessary to go out and defend the homeland, they will go out and defend the homeland. Finally, I call on the entire international revolutionary movement. Especially the movement of communists around the world. A call to all comrades in the communist parties of the world. Today more than ever, in the face of imperialist aggression, the unity of all communists is necessary. As is the unity of all revolutionary women around the world. To defend the Bolivarian revolution is to defend the projects of revolution, change, and transformation that are taking place in the field of socialist ideas. Imperialism wants to take over our oil and also wants to destroy the Bolivarian revolution because it has supposedly been a bad example for other peoples of the world. I know they will not be able to defeat us. The Venezuelan people will prevail. They will overcome terror. They will overcome fear, and we are overcoming it. We will overcome uncertainty. They will not intimidate us, as my friends would say. We will resist. Whether it is for peace, it is what we desire most. We only want peace. And here, in front of these heroes and heroines who are there, we say to our people: we have enough examples to sacrifice ourselves. The example given to us by the men and women who fought for our first independence. Now it is up to us to guarantee the independence of our homeland. To guarantee the second independence. Estamos con el primer programa, 5 minutos con el gallo. Hemos decidido hacer este primer programa del paseo de los próceres de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela. Aquí están las heroínas y están los próceres de la primera independencia librada por nuestra patria, por nuestros próceres contra el Imperio Español. Ellos son el ejemplo de sacrificio. Seis repúblicas estuvieron bajo la responsabilidad de este grupo de hombres. ¿Por qué seis? Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Alto Perú, Bajo Perú. El Alto Perú pasó de ser Bolivia y Panamá, porque Panamá formaba parte de Colombia. Tenemos que consumarla como un país también liberado por estos próceres. Algunos de Venezuela, otros de diferentes partes del mundo. Todos los andes recorrieron a caballo y a pie estos hombres para darles la libertad a estos que yo llamo seis países. Bueno, ejemplo, mejor ejemplo de sacrificio, de entrega, de valentía que ellos nos dieron. Esa sangre es la que hereda el pueblo venezolano. Esa sangre también la hereda el pueblo de Colombia y los pueblos que fueron liberados por nuestro libertador Simón Bolívar. Aquí tenemos Paes, Sucre, Bolívar, Rurdaneta, Nariño, Permúdez, Villar, Arizméndez, Brion, Rivas. Y allá tenemos las heroínas. Todas y cada una de las mujeres que también entregaron su vida por la libertad de nuestra patria. Esa es nuestra primera independencia. Hoy estamos librando una nueva lucha por la independencia de nuestro país contra el imperio más grande que ha tenido la humanidad, como lo fue el Imperio Español en su oportunidad. Hoy en nuestro pueblo, dirigido por el camarada Nicolás Mauro Moros, viene librando una batalla contra este imperio que pretende convertirnos en colonia. Ciertamente, Paes y Santander dividieron la Gran Colombia. Tradicionaron el espíritu de la unidad de Simón Bolívar, pero nosotros seguimos con ese espíritu de libertad y unidad de los pueblos de América Latina, especialmente los pueblos que se llamó la Gran Colombia. En este momento, nuestro país tiene fragatas al frente de nuestras costas en el mar Caribe, fragatas norteamericanas, que pretenden invadir nuestro territorio con el único afán de apoderarse de todas las riquezas de nuestro pueblo, porque estas riquezas son de nuestro pueblo. Estas riquezas no pertenecen a ningún gobierno. Han justificado, nos han dicho que somos un país que apoyamos terroristas de la Hezbollah, que somos un país del cartel de los soles, que somos el país que exportamos en bandas armadas. ¿Qué nos han dicho? Pero la verdad ha salido a flote. Ya ni cartel de los soles, ya ni Crenaragua. Ya no es que estamos oficiando a Hezbollah, nada de eso. Ahora es que vienen por lo que realmente siempre han querido, las riquezas de nuestra patria. Especialmente la riqueza que está en los fondos de nuestros suelos, el petróleo. ¿Por qué? Porque Estados Unidos, Norteamérica, se está quedando sin reservas petroleras y Venezuela cuenta con las mayores reservas petroleras del mundo. Ustedes que me están escuchando, camaradas y amigos, ustedes que me están viendo, saben que este es un país de gente honesta, de gente trabajadora, de gente alegre, sí, fundamentalmente alegre y feliz. Que hemos resistido un bloqueo de 1.003 sanciones, bloqueo criminal, que el día que esta república se declaró revolucionaria, bolivariana, antiimperialista, inmediatamente comenzaron a sediarla. Y Trump lo dijo en el gobierno pasado de él. Me faltó poco para adueñarme de las reservas petroleras de Venezuela. Los que no hicieron esa oportunidad, pretenden hacerlo ahora. No es saliendo con Maduro, que acaba con la revolución. No es saliendo con cualquiera de los que dirigen la revolución. No es salir de ellos. Aquí tendrá que salir de un pueblo que se ha sacrificado hasta el día de hoy para tener lo que hasta ahora hemos logrado. Hemos, poco a poco, poco a poco, logrado nuestra independencia alimentaria. Ahí producen el 96% de la producción de los alimentos que consumimos. No sucedió así cuando hubo los paros. Dependíamos totalmente de los Estados Unidos. Hoy no. Por eso lo llamo a ustedes, camaradas, a que no caer en la guerra. El imperialismo cuando coloca allí sus navíos, el portaaviones más grande que tienen los Estados Unidos es para aterrorizarnos. No nos van a aterrorizar. Es para meternos miedo. No nos van a meter miedo. Es para crear incertidumbre. No van a lograrlo. Nuestro pueblo va a seguir trabajando. Y cuando haya que salir a defender la patria, va a salir a defender la patria. Por último, le hago un llamado a todo el movimiento revolucionario internacional. Especialmente al movimiento de los comunistas del mundo. Un llamado a todos los camaradas de los partidos comunistas del mundo. Hoy más que nunca, ante la agresión imperialista, se hace necesaria la unidad de todos los comunistas. Así como la unidad de todas las mujeres revolucionarias del mundo. Defender la revolución bolivariana es defender los proyectos de revolución, cambio y transformación que se vienen dando en el campo de las ideas socialistas. El imperialismo quiere adueñarse de nuestro petróleo y además quiere destruir la revolución bolivariana porque supuestamente ha sido un mal ejemplo para otros pueblos del mundo. Sé que no podrán con nosotros. El pueblo venezolano vencerá. Vencerá el terror. Vencerá, y estamos venciendo, el miedo. Venceremos la incertidumbre. No nos achicoparán, como dirían los amigos míos. Nosotros resistiremos. Ya sea si es por la paz, es lo que más anhelamos. Solo queremos paz. Y aquí frente a estos próceres, estos héroes y las heroínas que están allá, nosotros le decimos a nuestro pueblo. Bastante ejemplo tenemos para sacrificarnos. El ejemplo que nos dieron los hombres y mujeres que lucharon por nuestra primera independencia. Ahora nos toca a nosotros garantizar la independencia de nuestra patria. Garantizar la segunda independencia. Ser totalmente libres. No seremos colonia de nadie.
