On May 19th, 2023, the World Anto-imperialist Platform and the Communist Party (Switzerland) co-organized the meeting with Ricardo Molina, the former vice-president of Venezuela.
At the meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland, the diplomatic mission to the UN of Cuba, the Embassy of Nicaragua in Switzerland, the Communist Party (Italy), the Portuguese Communist Party, the People’s Liberation Front (Sri Lanka), Alba Suiza, and other political organizations attended.
The Communist Party (Switzerland) and the World Anti-imperialist Platform made opening speeches in which they emphasized the significant importance of the meeting in the situation where the opportunist theory, which insists that China, Russia, and Latin American countries are imperialists, prevailed in the international communist movement.
Ricardo Molina, as the vice-president of Venezuela and on behalf of the PSUV, explained the domestic situation in Venezuela, where the imperialists are imposing a brutal economic blockade, and the international affairs from the viewpoint of the Venezuelan people. He elaborated on the achievement of Chavez’s anti-imperialist struggles and pointed out that the current war in Ukraine provoked by the U.S.-Nato imperialists is spreading to Eastern Asia.
The participants asked him some questions about the coup attempt of Juan Guaido, which was backed by the U.S. but failed, and the emerging BRICS. The Cuban and Nicaraguan diplomats thanked Ricardo Molina for coming to Geneva to express his solidarity with Latin American comrades.
The World Anti-imperialist Platform said this meeting would strengthen international solidarity between Swiss and Latin American comrades and the Platform.
