DPRK and Russia, discussion on the situation on the Korean peninsula and the training the astronauts

On Sep. 13, the Kremlin said that Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and President of Russia discuss regional and global situations, including the tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Russia also proposed a plan to train DPRK’s astronauts.

Spokesperson of the Kremlin, Peskov Dmitry, said that the two leaders discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula and exchanged their views in detail on the world and regional situations. Chairman Kim explained and President Putin found very interesting.

Also, during a visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome, “we talked that it is possible for Russia to train DPRK astronauts and send them to into space if DPRK wants to” he added.

Pyongyang is eager to learn from Russia’s advanced space technology and experience. Putin expressed the possibility of helping the DPRK develop satellites.

The spokesperson remarked to hold a foreign ministers’ meeting in October, saying, DPRK Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov plan to meet in Pyongyang in October.
