Putin-Trump call; partial ceasefire agreed

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke on the phone on March 18 and agreed to a partial ceasefire.

The two leaders spoke on the phone for the first time in about a month. The call lasted about an hour and a half.

Russia explained, the agreement is about stopping attacking each other’s energy and infrastructure facilities between Russia and Ukraine for 30 days.

Putin raised concerns about the total ceasefire.

The two leaders agreed to immediately begin technical negotiations in West Asia (Middle East) on the implementation of the ceasefire in the Black Sea, a total ceasefire, and a permanent peace.

They also discussed the need to halt the proliferation of strategic weapons and agreed to work with other parties.

Ukrainian President Zelensky subsequently stated that he supports a partial ceasefire and wants to talk with Trump.
