After the anti-NATO rally and march on the 4th, participants listened to a presentation by the World Anti-Imperialist Platform delegation and had a discussion at the Social Center (Circolo Arci Raffaello Andreoni), a part of a popular housing.
The social center is named after Andreoni, a young man who was killed by the fascists after World War II.
The Tuscany regional director of CARC (Committees to Support the Resistance for Communism), said, “This year we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the anti-fascist victory. We continue our struggle in Florence against the Zionists, against NATO and for the liberation of Palestine. The Zionists are protected by the Florentine and Italian governments.”
The Coordinamento Nazionale No NATO continued, “The Meloni government is promoting a policy of “blood and tears”, exponentially increasing the budget and public debt, and privatizing public services. The US and NATO occupiers are lining their pockets at the expense of the people. We must move forward as a united movement for genuine liberation and build a strong united front to confront NATO and prevent a world war caused by the imperialists”.
Paulo Babini, who spoke on behalf of CARC, said “We have been organizing activities in Florence for several years to stop the NATO command center. Two days ago, comrades from the (new) Italian Communist Party put up a sign “NATO out of Florence!” at the entrance to the NATO headquarters at the Prediera barracks” and shared its experiences of struggles in Italy.
The Italian independent media outlet Multipopolare and Ottolina TV, said “Kicking NATO out is not easy. Italy is loyal to the United States. We must prepare for a strong struggle. It is important to unite in local struggles”.
The World Anti-imperialist Platform said, “The imperialist warmongers are targeting Eastern Europe, Western Asia, East Asia, and the Western Pacific as the three main battlefields of World War 3. This is manifested in their designation of the DPRK-China as the “new axis of aggression” along with Russia and Iran”.
And he said, “As a preliminary preparation for the war in East Asia and Western Pacific, the US formed the “Northeast Asian NATO” with Japan and the “ROK” through the “Camp David Declaration” in August 2023 and realized it with the “Freedom Edge” multi-domain joint military exercise in June 2024. The US-NATO completed the “Pacificization of NATO” at the Washington Summit in July 2024 and fully concentrated it with multinational joint military exercises in East Asia and the Pacific, including “Freedom Edge,” “Rimpac,” and “Ulchi Freedom Shield” between June and August 2024.”
Lastly, he analyzed “the anti-imperialist camp, which is mainly composed of nuclear and missile superpowers such as the DPRK, China, and Russia, is engaging in the war with the goal of anti-fascism, liberation, and reunification, while directly demonstrating its ability to strike the US mainland with nuclear weapons. The superiority of the anti-imperialist camp in terms of justification, capabilities, and operations raises expectations for the end of World War 3”.
After hearing the news of Yoon Suk-yeol’s sentencing, participants held banners with slogans “Arrest Fascist President Yoon!”, “Kick US troops Out of South Korea!”. Meanwhile, a delegation of the World Anti-imperialist Platform expressed solidarity with the Communist Party Marxist-Kenya (CPMK) in Nakuru, Kenya, sharing their concerns about further crackdowns on the party.
