Session 2 of the Paris International Colloquium on the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in World War II

The Paris International Colloquium marking on the 80th Anniversary of the victory of World War II, co-organized by the World Anti-imperialist Platform and the Pan-African Unitary Dynamics (DUP), was held “World War and Anti-imperialist and Anti-Fascist struggle” in Paris, France on May 10.

The second session of the colloquium under the theme of “World War III and the Tasks of the World Anti-imperialist Struggle,”  took place, followed by a presentation, discussion, and Q&A.

Session 2 was moderated by Coulibaly Adama, Secretary General of DUP. Bruno Drweski, the Union for the Reconstruction of Communism (URC), France; Cuma sat, Struggle Unity, Turkey; Farah Ibrahim, former Central Committee member of CP of Lebanon; and Joti Brar, CPGB-ML, UK. DUP, the World Anti-imperialist Platform, NKPJ, and the CARC Party (Italy) participated in the discussion session.

Bruno Drweski analyzed, “Neoliberalism has effectively killed old-style liberalism, not to mention social democracy, and paved the way for new forms of fascism. One need only observe the rise of various forms of repression (censorship, arrests, prosecutions, expulsions, bans on media, parties, associations, interruptions or manipulation of electoral processes, etc.) in countries that were formerly liberal democracies to realize that the process of fascistization is no longer confined to countries dominated by imperialism but is now being “repatriated” to the imperialist metropolises.”

And, “This proves only one thing, namely that imperialism is no longer able to maintain an attractive appearance on the surface, because its sordid nature is now visible on both sides.” “This is proof of the degree of weakness it has reached, which in turn provokes its boundless aggression. And this is where the anti-imperialist forces in all their diversity must converge and unite.”

Cuma sat revealed, “NATO-backed regimes in Europe and North America have embraced far-right extremists (i.e. fascists/neo-Nazis), integrating them into state structures while suppressing revolutionary democratic/socialist opposition.”

“Meanwhile, in Europe and the U.S., anticommunism has become state policy: communist parties are banned in some countries, socialist movements are smeared as “foreign agents,” and historical memory is manipulated to portray fascism as a lesser evil compared to communism.”

And stated “Historical experience has proven that fascism can be defeated through mass mobilization under the command of communist forces. Today, as neo-fascism reemerges, this history reminds us once again that vigilance and internationalism are essential. It underlines in bold lines that in order to defeat fascism, it is necessary to take advantage of the crisis of capitalism for the revolution of the working peoples, to overthrow the monopoly capitalist order, which is the material basis of fascism, and to establish the power of the workers and toilers.”

Farah Ibrahim said what happened in Palestine in detail. She said, “Massacres, massive destruction of homes and expulsion of hundreds of Palestinian families from the West Bank.latest reports estimate that almost 20% of Gazans have been killed, injured or disappeared, with 40% of victims being children. With 90% of its infrastructure destroyed, Gaza has become an open-air concentration camp, where survivors wander under the bombs, without water, food or medicine.”

And she said, “Resistance as the only hope of liberationthe face of continuing imperialist violence, our duty is clear: peoples’ resistance must continue. Our party, the Lebanese Communist Party, launched and actively participated in the resistance against the Zionist occupation of Lebanon and Palestine from the very beginning until 2000, alongside other political forces. of the first martyred comrades fell in 1936 against the colonization of Palestine by the Zionist Haganah militia.” “Other Lebanese forces then took up the baton of resistance. We unwaveringly support the resilience and resistance of the Lebanese people against Zionist aggression.”

Joti Brar pointed out, “The economic and military defeat of Nato in Ukraine has given renewed hope and confidence to liberation forces worldwide. We have seen the successful renewal of the struggle for independence and sovereignty in the Sahel, as well as a resurgence of armed liberation struggle across the Arab world.”

“Despite the imperialists’ inability to win any of the wars they have started, the logic of their position is such that they must keep trying to bring every liberated territory to heel. For their survival as a class, victory over China and Russia is simply indispensable. Their desperation to achieve this goal has not abated but rather been reinforced by their failures in Russia and Gaza, since the economic crisis is made worse by every defeat.”

On the one hand, she assured that “In this context, the news that DPRK troops have helped their Russian allies to liberate Kursk is extremely welcome. This is an important milestone in the deepening of ties between two frontline states, and it sends a clear message to the imperialists: the DPRK has Russia at its back and combat experience under its belt. It is fully prepared to defend itself, and if the USA succeeds in re-igniting the Korean war, it will surely regret its recklessness”

She urged, “There is an especially urgent need to build a genuinely anti-imperialist antiwar movement capable of delivering real solidarity to all those fighting our class enemies on the frontlines, whether in Gaza, Yemen or Donbass.” and she quoted a word from Stalin said “To eliminate the inevitability of war, it is necessary to abolish imperialism.” (Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR, 1951)”

In the discussion, the DUP said, “Our political movement is a continuation of the  World War 3 and the anti-colonial struggle. It is a genuine concern of the masses. War is the most effective means of maintaining imperialist domination, because in reality the war has already begun. War has been going on, and each country, each region, has been reorganized in such a way that it is eventually prepared for war.

The World Anti-imperialist Platform said, “World War 3 is a clear anti-imperialist war. If World War 2 began as an inter-imperialist war and was called an anti-fascist war, World War 3 will be an anti-imperialist war from start to finish. Socialist countries, non-socialist anti-imperialist countries, and anti-imperialist and anti-colonial forces are forming a broad global anti-imperialist front against the imperialist camp that provoked World War 3.”

And, “Our first task and historical mission is to strengthen the anti-imperialist front.”  ”There is no other reason why we must strengthen the anti-imperialist front globally, which is the successor to the worldwide anti-fascist front that won the Second World War, and mobilize the peoples of the world in anti-imperialist actions. Justice and victory are on the side of the anti-imperialists.”

NKPJ emphasized the importance of the struggle against opportunism. He said, “It is important to fight against opportunism, the so-called “pyramid theory of imperialism,” and other attempts to manipulate education and mislead public opinion within the progressive camp. These forces are active within the progressive movement.”

CARC Party said, “We must condemn the military actions of the armed forces and the recruitment and use of volunteers and mercenaries from the Ukrainian militias, as well as the logistics and IT support for the Ukrainian military actions”, “We must condemn the support of the Ukrainian military from the US and NATO bases in our country”, and “We must fight against the expansion of military exercises and the expansion of US, NATO and Italian military bases”.

In the Q&A, there were in-depth discussions on the division of the communist movement and the unity and challenges of anti-imperialist forces.
