The delegation from The World Anti-imperialist Platform, currently visiting Venezuela, attended a meeting with the Simón Bolívar Institute (ISB) at the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 20th. They engaged in a wide-ranging discussion on the importance of the anti-imperialist struggle and internationalist unity, specifically highlighting the successful model of the Comunas.
Blanca Eekhout, Director of the ISB, welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Institute and delivered the opening address.
Blanca emphasized, “Solidarity must begin with internationalism and emanate from the hearts of people across the world. We are organizing the militia to defend our homeland and prevent aggression against our nation. You can see our advanced and organized people throughout the country, and I believe the entire people will follow suit. We must be able to organize ourselves, even reaching the people in the remotest corners of the nation.” She further stressed, “The power of the Comuna is more crucial than ever in this period. For the people, by the people, we must raise the people’s consciousness. This is our duty.”
She then exposed, “Imperialist forces are oppressing the people across Latin America by using cartels. They promote what they call ‘democracy,’ while intending to spark war right in the centers of our cities.”
She continued, “They are not merely expanding military bases. US embassies across our region are being transformed into bunkers. For instance, military structures designed for war are being built in downtown Paraguay. We used to say that Ecuador was one of the most peaceful nations in Latin America during the period of the ‘Citizen’s Revolution.’ But they have tried to fill that void with groups who enjoy impunity, drug cartels, and criminal organizations. They attempted to manipulate the situation to install a cartel boss as president. Everything is being corrupted in this manner. Though it was a peaceful region, they deployed military forces, formed cartels, and prepared narco-troops. Companies are being established to facilitate capital inflow. Even prostitution is on the rise.”
Additionally, she articulated, “We must transform governmental power into the people’s power; only then can we win against imperialism, which seeks to sow division everywhere.” She also called for global unity. “We must organize the working classes of the entire world. The imperialists are using the pretext of cartels to level accusation. Venezuela is not a nation that manufactures drugs. We have no factories, nor do we engage in narco-trafficking. We have dedicated ourselves to the revolution for a long time. We spent years eradicating drug-trafficking from the state. As Anti-revolutionary forces are exploiting this, carrying it out has become a strategic necessity—this is a war for the revolution. Anti-revolutionary forces seek to destroy our nation by trafficking drugs through Colombia. Ultimately, they want to steal our oil.”
Carolina Martínez, Member of the Central Committee of Cátedra Socialista Antonio Gramsci (Mexico), highlighted, “We are living in an anti-imperialist struggle because of imperialist invasions. We are facing increasing burdens and must therefore stand in solidarity. Latin America must engage in militant solidarity. Demonstrations are occurring across the world. We need to focus on communication, as the ISB is doing. The movement must be deployed. We must help the people understand the current situation. This is our hope.”
Ramón Valencia from El salbador, encouraged “Oil represents our hope. Imperialists have tried to extort this hope; we must overthrow them and liberate ourselves. As Maduro has demonstrated, Latin America must reflect seriously on this. Imperialism is making its final threat. We are not worried at all, because we have the people and we have already achieved victory. The people of the whole world will surely triumph.”
Adama Coulibaly, Secretary general of Dynamique Unitaire Panafricaine, stressed, “Anti-imperialist struggle is extremely significant. A high level of struggle is being deployed in Africa. Today, a new wave of colonialism is unfolding.” He added, “As Comrade Chávez said, the people of the whole world are here; we are those people. We have the right to defend ourselves. We are the protectors of peace. We have the potential, and we also have an army.”
Taimur Rahman, Secretary general of Mazdoor Kissan Party, Pakistan. urged, “As communists, we must think carefully. To broaden the anti-imperialist forces and establish deeper relationships, a new global movement is needed, not only in Latin America but also across the world.”
Dimitrios Patelis, the representative of Revolutionary Theory Group, Greece, emphasized, “Greece and EU imperialists continually repeat the same concept as they try to spread their rhetoric. They aim to oppose revolution and impose subjugation. They are heralding World War 3 and attempting to secure support for it. This is a class war against the entire world.” He further stated, “comrades from the ‘Republic of Korea’ and comrades from around the world are concentrated on the World Anti-Imperialist Platform. In imperialist countries, we have a responsibility as communists. Imperialism is everywhere, continuing its cruel march in an unfathomable direction. If one considers oneself a communist, they must wage class struggle.
