Platform Delegation Visits UPRA and Valencia Regional Union

During its visit to Venezuela, a delegation from The World Anti-imperialist Platform (Platform) delivered a message of international solidarity on October 25th, meeting with Venezuelan regional organizations and unions that have resolved to wage an anti-imperialist resistance war alongside the Nicolás Maduro government.

The delegation first attended the 9th National Conference of the Anti-imperialist Revolutionary People’s Union (UPRA), which was held at the “Heroes of Canaima Village” in Naguanagua Municipality, Carabobo State.

As a progressive Venezuelan organization, UPRA is actively promoting the anti-imperialist struggle and the strengthening of people’s power.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) representative delivered an address,  “‘warmonger’ Trump is obsessively seeking to invade Venezuela.” He stressed, “The National Army and the Militia are currently united, and Venezuelan people, united around the comuna-based government and 4.3 million militia members, are entering the anti-US resistance with a firm determination to fight to the end.“

He continued by urging solidarity, stating that “it is justice and a necessity for the Latin American people to engage in anti-US resistance and the anti-imperialist struggle.” He pledged that “The Progressive Peoples of the World and the World Anti-imperialist Platform will fight together on the anti-imperialist joint front for the defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and the realization of peace in Latin America.”

Following the national conference, the delegation participated in a meeting with UPRA and the Valencia Regional Union, where they were briefed on the anti-imperialist struggle ongoing in the region.

UPRA is delivering the stance of anti-imperialist through statement, Social Network, demonstration, action on the street, educational program in union movement to people. And they explained that the revolutionary current within the trade union movement—carried out through trade unions, industrial safety representatives, workers’ production committees, and combat organizations—plays an important role.

They stressed, “Our main enemy is not the government but imperialism. We fight against imperialist and fascist forces alongside the government.” They clarified that “This is part of the organized solidarity with comrades from the Bolivarian Socialist Central Organization of liberated Workers.”

They added, “We put forward proposals with our comrades in the central organization, and within that framework, we are discussing how the working class struggle should proceed against the repeated aggression and attacks of imperialism.”

The delegation later inspected the Valencia industrial complex with union executives.
