TASOFO: We Strongly Condemn Donald Trump’s War On Sovereign Venezuela

WE STRONGLY CONDEMN DONALD TRUMP’S WAR ON SOVEREIGN NATION OF VENEZUELA AND THE ABDUCTION OF PRESIDENT NICOLÁS MADURO MOROS

We strongly condemn the United States of America’s military aggression in Venezuela and the subsequent abduction of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. This constitutes an illegal and unjustified regime change in a sovereign nation, and it is by all accounts the use of force against another state’s territorial integrity and political independence, which is contrary to Article 2(4) and Article 51 of the UN Charter, which the United States has repeatedly trampled on at its pleasure.

We firmly reject all blatant accusations made against President Nicolás Maduro used to justify Trump’s illegal military operations in Venezuela. There is no credible evidence that President Maduro is involved in the narco-terrorism or money laundering as alleged by Trump, nor has he committed any harm to the United States, aside from defending Venezuela’s sovereignty over its natural resources.

On the other hand, there is plenty of evidence to incriminate Donald Trump, and other high government US officials.

For an extra judicial killing of more than 117 people, many of them fishermen and workers, during the unjustified bombing of the commercial boats in the Caribbean and Pacific.

For robbing two oil tankers carrying over 1.8 million barrels of Venezuelan oil.

For causing a humanitarian crisis in the country through the Unilateral Coercive Measures (sanctions) that have weakened Venezuelan’s economy for years.

Trump’s claim that the illegal military operation in Venezuela was conducted in conjunction with America’s law enforcement is a joke, especially because no country has the mandate to enforce its own laws on the soil of another sovereign nation.

All allegations used by the Trump administration to justify invading Venezuela reflect America’s old-fashioned style of manufacturing public consent to topple democratically elected leaders for its economic interests. It is unsurprising that such incidents occur in countries with strategic natural resources, like Venezuela, which holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves.

We refuse to be complicit in the same falsehoods used to justify countless U.S. invasions in Africa, such as Libya; in Asia, such as Iran; and in Latin America, such as Chile, among others. The only outcomes of these invasions have been political instability and economic hardship for the poor masses.

We call on all progressive forces to condemn these dangerous acts of imperialist subjugation against countries pursuing alternative development paths. If there remains any decency within the so-called international community, it must also condemn such aggression and immediately act to end America’s continuous destabilization of global peace.
